On Tuesday, October 7, Cedro Mineração made a donation to revitalize the Santa Maria Home for the Elderly in Mariana. As reported in the newspaper O Liberal, the amount of R$300,000, destined for the organization, was made possible through the Municipal Fund for the Elderly and will be used to renovate the dining rooms, two patios and two changing rooms.

"I just have to thank Cedro and the Municipal Council for the Elderly, because our dining rooms are small and the floor of the two patios is very damaged. It's a project that will have a very positive impact on their quality of life," said Aline Lage Santos Mizael, who has been president of the institution for six months.

According to her, in the building's current situation, the elderly are at risk, since 90% of them are currently wheelchair users or use a cane, which increases the risk of falls.

Cedro is a great partner of Lar Santa Maria, not only in this infrastructure project, but also in other projects, such as equine therapy, art therapy and the Renewal Movement, which develops the practice of handicrafts with the elderly. Currently, 60 elderly people live there. The organization has existed for over 60 years.

"I'd like to thank Cedro for donating these funds to Lar Santa Maria, which does a wonderful job of caring for the elderly," said the town's mayor, Juliano Duarte, during the donation ceremony.

"We are delighted to be able to allocate this resource to a serious institution, which reinforces our commitment to the Mariana community," said Marcus Mariani, Cedro Mineração's Community and Institutional Relations specialist.

‍Old partnership

The executive secretary of the Municipal Council for the Elderly, Lidia Mara Coelho, highlighted Cedro Mineração's existing partnership with the organization. "Cedro is already a great supporter of Lar Santa Maria. We're very happy with this donation, and we also want to bring the community closer to the organization," she said.
