The month of September began by arousing curiosity and working the imagination at the São Judas Tadeu nursery school in Jardim Canadá, Nova Lima. On the first day of the month, the children attended the launch of the children's book "A Liga Catavento contra a Gangue do Medo" (The Catavento League against the Fear Gang), which has Cedro Mineração as one of its sponsors, through the Culture Incentive Law.
The author, Magella Moreira, met them in the organization's courtyard, forming a large circle. Amid the traditional childish euphoria, the children received the books, asked questions about the stories and were very curious, leafing through the pages and admiring the illustrations. In total, 100 books were donated to the organization and will be available for consultation and reading in the organization's library.
As soon as the children arrived at the nursery, you could see the curiosity on their faces. When they received a copy, they were entertained, flipping through the pages on their own or in pairs with their classmate next to them. The look of the book, with lots of colorful drawings on a black background, was something that attracted the children's attention. The book's illustrations are by Renata Saturno.
Investment in the community
This moment of sharing knowledge and imagination with the children was highlighted by Lucas Nicácio, Community Relations Analyst at Cedro Mineração. "We at Cedro believe that reading opens doors to new worlds, and it's a joy to be able to help each child have more opportunities to learn and dream. This shows that Cedro is firmly committed to investing in initiatives that value education and culture, contributing to the development of the communities where it operates," he said.
The writer spoke of how pleased he was to be invited to launch the book at the nursery school in the midst of the children, who are the raison d'être of a children's book. "I was very happy to be invited by Cedro, which is one of the sponsors of this book, to launch it here at the nursery. This contact with the children is fundamental, because after all the book is made for them, to awaken their curiosity about reading. It's a very beautiful and didactic book, which as well as telling stories, to strengthen the playfulness of these children, talks about the importance of animal defense," he said, who is the author of several other children's books.
Donation in Mariana
On August 27, Cedro donated 50 copies of the book to the Cônego Paulo Dilascio Municipal School, and 60 copies to the Passagem de Mariana Municipal School. Other donations are planned for schools in cities in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte this September.
The São Judas Tadeu nursery school is the largest private institution in Minas Gerais in its segment, currently serving around 800 children every day, with a variety of activities. After a pandemic break, the nursery reopened in 2021, serving Nova Lima and the region, and Cedro Mineração is currently responsible for maintaining the entire space.
