On November 5, the Brasil Mineral website reported on Cedro's plans to expand the capacity of its Mariana (MG) mine. According to the publication, the company's goal is to gradually increase production from the current three million tons per year to five million tons of iron ore.
The planned investments include the purchase of equipment and the construction of infrastructure for the production of pellet feed, an ore with a high iron content and low impurity levels, which allows the steel industry to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 50%. The publication defines pellet feed as "premium ore".

"We are going to combine the expansion of our capacity with the creation of more jobs in Mariana and the adoption of more modern technologies in a single project," said José Carlos Martins, a member of the Board of Directors of Cedro Participações, of which Cedro Mineração is a part. "Cedro will promote a milestone for regional and national mining, reinforcing the sector's strategic role in Brazil's economic development"
