Cedro has been gaining prominence on the national scene for its expansion strategy and commitment to sustainable mining. In reports published by the Metrópoles portal on February 21 and 22, the company's investments in large-scale logistics projects and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies for greener mining were detailed, with a focus on decarbonizing the industry.
One of the pillars of this growth phase is logistics verticalization, which seeks to reduce dependence on highways and lower costs and emissions in the iron ore chain. Among the priority initiatives are the implementation of the Serra Azul Railway (shortline) and the development of Porto do Meio, in Itaguaí (RJ). In addition to operational gains, the port project has a strong socioeconomic impact, with an estimated R$ 1.2 billion in Service Tax (ISS) for municipalities in the region.
In the field of mineral production, the highlight is the US$700 million investment in the construction of a plant at the Mariana mine (MG) dedicated to pellet feed. The product is a high-grade concentrate known as "green ore," capable of reducing carbon emissions in the steelmaking process by up to 50%, meeting the growing global demand for decarbonization. The operation in Mariana is also expected to generate R$350 million in taxes and R$100 million in financial compensation.
Combined with sustainable production, Cedro reaffirms its technological pioneering spirit by using filtration methods for dry stacking. This innovation allows operations to dispense with the use of dams, raising safety and environmental care standards.
Under the leadership of Lucas Kallas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cedro Participações, the holding company also continues to diversify its portfolio. Currently, the group maintains solid operations in sectors beyond mining, including agribusiness, healthcare, real estate, and logistics, consolidating its position as one of the country's leading investment and development players.
